GP injection upskilling- cross patch working optimising Primary care injection pathwaying

At the request of our Orthopaedic surgical colleagues at HUTHT who were seeing inappropriate standalone hip injection referrals from Primary care where no surgical intervention was needed we set up and ran a landmark hip injection training clinic which was offered to all Hull and East Riding GP’s.

Dr Clausen from Manor Road Surgery, Beverley PCN participated in the training which included the use of point of care ultrasound to show the safety of and efficacy of anatomically guided hip injections as well as the technicalities of image guided injections.

The collaboration helps further reinforce Healthshare Hull’s ability to help optimise Primary Care pathways reducing volume within Orthopaedic and Radiology lists through collaboration with our external stakeholders. Our offer of injection refresher training to any GP’s wanting to spend time with our expert injection therapists remains open.
